Religious

Religious people often reveal the pride of their own hearts when GOD chooses to work through the humble, the weak, and the unexpected. They become offended, not because the truth is unclear, but because it exposes their self-righteousness.

The Pharisees were furious when GOD used fishermen instead of scholars, when He healed the broken instead of praising the outwardly pious, and when Christ Himself rebuked their empty religion.

So it is today—many spend more time criticizing the servant than glorifying the Master, more time slandering the vessel than examining the sin within their own souls. But GOD delights to use those the world calls “unqualified,” that no one may boast in the flesh.

As it is written:

“But GOD chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; GOD chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, GOD chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of GOD.” (1 Corinthians 1:27–29)

Examine yourself: are you offended when GOD exalts another, or are you humbled that He uses any sinner at all? The mark of a true disciple is not envy but repentance, not resentment but rejoicing in the glory of GOD wherever it shines.
